My cousin's best friend and her children.
News had gotten around Plaine du Nord that I enjoyed taking photos of my family. One November (2017) afternoon, my cousin's best friend asked me to take photos of her and her family. It's easy to forget that not everyone owns an iPhone with 4K quality when you're in the thick of Los Angeles. With a touch of my favorite editing app VSCO, the photos were adored by friends and family and thus shared via WhatsApp. Everyone except for the little girl was excited haha. I love sharing photos of people in my country who are not in anguish. Yes, Haitians have endured an unimaginable amount of pain since our ancestors were brought to the island but, like the Gold found in our soil, we are resilient and luminous.

The Goal: To increase life expectancy in my little town of Plaine du Nord. The current life expectancy in Haiti is 63.5 years old. with the most common causes being preventable (coronary heart disease, stroke, pneumonia etc). Through health, agriculture, and education, I want to assist in forming habits like using a public toilet instead of peeing near the river to help enhance the average Plaine du Nord resident's lifestyle and more importantly, elongating their life.
The Work: Public Toilet

My God Sisters
My mom is God mother to many. Actually, a lot of Haitians who live in the US are God parents to kids in Haiti. Makes sense, if you have more to give, give more.
Haitian God parents responsibilities including paying for their God child's school admission (primary - university) and health care in addition to giving them love and money on their birthdays (like the God parents in the states do).
